Welcome to the Pentraeth Community Council website

The Parish Council, the forerunner of the Community Council, was established in 1894 with the first meeting being held on the 13th December of that year. According to the minutes another meeting was called the following week, the 22nd December, after receiving confirmation from Anglesey County Council that the first meeting was lawful.

The name Parish Council lasted until the re-organisation under the Local Government Act of 1972. In the early days the Council would meet every month or two, but very often meetings were postponed as not enough Members had turned up to form a quorum. Up to 1972 there were fifteen Members on the Council but now that has been cut down to eleven with three seats being vacant at present.

The Council meets regularly on the last Wednesday of the month except for August and December, at The Memorial Hall, unless an important issue raises its head.
